Sliding door curtains add a soft touch to a usually difficult window to cover
Sliding door curtains are not seen as much as vertical blinds but it isn't because they aren't practical, warm and beautiful to look at. Vertical blinds have flooded the market for sliding doors.
They do offer a few advantages. They can all pull off to one side and stack up to take up little space. They can be partially opened to let a little or a lot of light in and come in a variety of colors.
What they will never be able to do is insulate that large pane of glass on your sliding door.
The warmer and more welcoming alternative is a thermal lined curtain.
You can find ready made "thermal" curtains but they have either tab tops or rod pocket headings that are difficult at best to slide open. Since you are covering an entrance, you'll want to be able to get access easily. You will also find that many of the ready made curtains are made of 100% polyester. Now polyester usually can be machine washed but for the same reason your grandfather's pants were made from the stuff, you DON'T want draperies made from it. IT CAN'T HOLD A FOLD. So you'll have these inexpensive drapes but they will flare out, never keeping a soft fold.
Check the fabric content to be sure that you are buying a poly/cotton blend or a 100% cotton drapery to get both function andform!
Maybe you want to try to
make your own curtains. We have some instructions for that in the link above.
