Painting and Plastic

by Minerva
(Louisiana)

My husband has done a lot of painting and and has done quite a few jobs that he ran out of daylight for. For anyone familiar with painting, you know that when you come from the job, you must rinse out your paintbrushes and rollers.

Well, he discovered a shortcut: wrap them in plastic. For the paintbrushes, all that is really required is a large ziplock bag and a rubber band to make sure that nothing dries out. For rollers, the same principal but we use plastic grocery bags and they work just as well. The reason this trick works so well is because with most jobs, one doesn't get everything done in a day and usually you are still in the same room using the same color and need to begin again with the same stuff the next day. This way, if done properly, you only have to rinse out rollers and brushes when done with the color.

I've been doing this for years

I heard this trick from a painter buddy of mine.

Plastic wrap works too. You do have to be SURE that its covered compleely. It saves a ton of time if you clean your rollers and a lot of money if they are the disposable kind.
