Make sure you measure first when hanging curtains

by peg
(nj)

I can't tell you how many times I have hung curtains and measured only how high they're going. For some reason I always forget to measure how far out they're going on either side!

So when you are hanging curtains, hold the curtain rods up and eyeball how far up and out you want them. Then get a tape measure and really measure it on both sides. The other thing I have forgotten to do is measure specifically where that middle extra support holder goes. For example, if you are hanging curtains over a really large window or set of windows, the bar will droop if you don’t use the support holder. But I’ve eyeballed the support bracket instead of measuring to make sure I get right in the middle. Then go ahead and try to close your curtains…they don’t line up! So measure, measure, measure.
