A bed crown centered above your bed is definately the icing on your cake.
Sometimes called a bed corona, a bed crown is usually mounted on the wall behind a bed and holds fabric panels that cover the wall behind it as well as drape around the sides.
There are some styles that hang above the bed and are ceiling mounted. Either style can also be used to highlight a hallway table or chair.
A canopy bed creates a feeling of romance and are a part of every girl's fairy tales but they are at times not practical.

You can hang sheers or rod pocket panels from the inside and let them drape over the headboard of the bed or tie them back on medallions mounted to the wall.
If your bed or other furniture is in front of the panels, they don't necessarily need to reach the floor. Just be sure the bottom of the panels can't be seen unless they are floor length.
Inside each of these coronas is a removable band that holds the draperies.
