Whether you have a real or artificial Christmas tree ideas abound for decorating them
Christmas tree ideas are many and varied. As long as it brings you and your family joy to look at it, even the smallest of trees can be beautiful.
Have an old fashioned Christmas tree and use large multi-colored lights and and lots of silvery tinsel. Big bold ornaments of all shapes will add a lot of nostalgia.
A retro Christmas tree might be an artificial one colored pink or made of silver foil with lights of all one color.
Rustic Christmas tree ideas include natural elements. Pine cones, twig ornaments, flowers all add to the feel. Use some plaid flannel ribbon and make bows to tie onto a few branches. Raffia bows are a simple but really pretty touch. White lights are best for this tree, and it should be a real tree rather than artificial.
Some people like running lengths of ribbon down the tree. Wire edged ribbon abounds at Christmastime and works really well for this. It holds whatever shape you give it.
Do you prefer white lights or multi-colored? Blinking or steady? LED lights are the latest new craze. They offer new colors to light your tree with.
Homemade popcorn garland never goes out of style.
Christmas tree ideas that involve memory making might include homemade ornaments with photos of your kids or handprints. Those are great to look at through the years and then pass on to your kids for their own trees someday.
The great Christmas Tree Debate will always remain: Real or Artificial?
Just about every person you ask will answer with a strong opinion one way or the other. Each has its merits.
Maybe you’ve had one kind all your life and now you’re thinking of switching “sides”.
My preference is for real trees; mostly because we have a tradition of cutting down our own at a local Christmas tree farm every year. Even freshly cut though, I’ve never gotten that pine smell to linger in the house.
I grew up with artificial trees though. The “needles” on those trees are much kinder to your hands when putting the lights on! There are so many shapes and colors and varieties now, most look very realistic.
